Cosgrove Hall, York Ave, Clovelly Park, S.A.
EPW Adelaide's first show EMERGING exploded onto the South Australian wrestling scene with a fantastic show that wowed the crowd. It had been 2 years since EPW had performed in SA and since then the fans had been begging for more EPW action, which is exactly what they got.
The night kicked off with dancing girls before the announcers came out to greet the crowd and get the action rolling!
Jayson Cooper VS Interstate Wrestler
This was a fast paced opener which saw hometown hero Jayson Cooper take on a wrestler from interstate. Cooper hit plenty of high impact moves as he tried to impress on EPW Adelaide's first show. Cooper won the match by hitting a top rope gordbuster, followed by 'The Sensation' swanton bomb for the win.
Winner: Jayson Cooper by pinfall with 'The Sensation'.
Richter VS Nate Dooley
Dooley entered with his fellow forefathers and current EPW tag team champions in 'Jag' Hartley Jackson and Davis Storm. Richter headed for the ring ready to wipe the floor with Dooley, only to be confronted by Jag and Storm. Referee Matt Smarkson showed his authority by ejecting the tag team champions from ringside. With his backup gone, Dooley had no choice but to try and evade the 6' 5" monster for the bulk of the match, but it only took one mistake for Richter to wrap his hand around Dooley's throat and annihilate his with a thunderous chokeslam.
Winner: Richter by pinfall after a massive chokeslam.
S.A. Title Tournament
Bruce 'Havok' Mills w/Anella VS Rookie
This was the first of many matches to come in the S.A. Title Tournament that will continue over the
next 12 months and it saw well established wrestler and former EPW Perth Champion Havok take on
an inexperienced rookie. Many expected Havok to walk all over the rookie and he did. In the end it was Havok's experience that was the deciding factor. He used his valet Anella to distract the rookie which led to Havok hitting a huge powerbomb for the three count. The rookie then retired from EPW Adelaide after his first match.
Winner: Havok by pinfall after a massive powerbomb.
S.A. Title Tournament
Devlin Reeves VS Robby Heart
Another match in the S.A. Title Tournament saw current EPW Perth invitational champion Devlin Reeves take on another recent Pro Wrestling Dojo graduate Robby Heart. Devlin is known for his
hard hitting and unforgiving brutality, and Robby took a lot of punishment throughout the match.
Robby impressed the crowd with his high flying cross body and springboard shoulderblock which caught Devlin by surprise and left him frustrated that he couldn't keep Robby down as he continued
to beat on him relentlessly. Robby had Devlin set up for the Heartbreaker DDT, but after a shot to the groin by Devlin and a package Piledriver, Devlin was victorious.
Winner: Devline Reeves via pinfall after a spine shattering piledriver.
Mikey Nicholls VS Slex
Mikey Nicholls and Slex are both regarded as 2 of the best in Australia, but Mikey was out to prove
he was THE best with his huge ego on show for all to see. Both of these men have been to Japan
and both wanted to show their stuff in what was a great match. Mikey spent a lot of the match reminding the crowd that he was the greatest, which led to oppotunities for Slex to punish Mikey with some great moves. Mikey would use underhanded tactics to regain the upper hand, but in the end Mikey's ego allowed him to be distracted and it only took a split second for Slex to hit a quick rollup and win the match.
Winner: Slex by pinfall after a rollup.
EPW Tag Team Title Match
'Jag' Hartley Jackson & Davis Storm VS Damian Slater and Shane Haste
The was the first title defense on an EPW Adelaide show and it didn't disappoint. The team of Slater and Haste proved to be a formidable one for the tag team champions as Jag and Storm found it hard to keep up with the fast paced style from Slater and Haste.
After the teams went back and forth Haste hit a slingshot twisting splash breaking Storm's nose and sending blood running down his face. The sight of his own blood only seemed to infuriate Storm who hit hard to try and punish Haste.
The match continued with all 4 men taking punishment in an attempt to be the victors. Jag destoyed Haste with a devastaing helf nelson suplex that planted Haste on his skull before almost taking the match with a great submission move on Slater. But Slater and Haste came back firing and almost had the match won.
Before the referee could make a 3 count, Storm sabotaged Slater and Haste's chance at being the new tag team champions by hitting an elbow drop on the ref mid count. A replacement referee hit the ring, but Jag and Storm had had enough. Storm blantantly hit Haste with the title belt resulting in Jag and Storm being disqualified. Slater and Haste had won the match, but as the rules stipulate, the titles cannot change hands on a disqualification.
Winners: Damien Slater & Shane Haste by DQ
After the match Nate Dooley stormed the ring to help the tag champions beat down Slater and Haste. More and more wrestlers came from backstage until the locked room had emptied down to ringside. Anarchy erupted as all the wrestlers brawled at ringside. Brawling on the outside continued until Shane Haste climbed to the top to hit an awe inspiring Pheonix 630 splash onto the entire locker room. Haste then hit a huge frogsplash on Storm as Slater superkicked Jag out of his boots.
EPW would like to thank all who made this history making event a successful evening. EPW Adelaide is off to a flying start. Stay tuned for information on EPW Adelaide's next show and bring on 2007!
