FALL FROM GRACE

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Cosgrove Hall, York Ave, Clovelly Park, S.A.

Before the event began Benny English made his way to ringside and announced that the National Wrestling Alliance now owns half the company along with himself, Jag and Havok. He went on to say that he is still in control of running the company as he is the only commissioner set in place and that he still makes all the rules…

The first match saw newcomer Elliot Sexton go up again Jimmy Scarlet. This was a fast paced match which was evenly contested throughout most of the encounter. Elliot Sexton used his size advantage over Scarlet in stages of the match, but Scarlet picked up his second victory in as many shows.

Damian Slater was invited to ringside by EPW Ring Announcer, Ben Rosenthal. Slater promised to answer some questions about his recent behaviour. During the interview, Jayson Cooper came down to ringside and confronted Slater. As soon as Jayson entered the ring, Dick & Balls ran from the entrance and into the ring and attacked Jayson from behind with a steel chair and trash can. Robby Heart ran down to aid his friend while Dick & Balls made their get away. Robby helped Jayson backstage as Slater went on to berate his former friends and proceeded to call out ‘Bones’ Malone to take him on then and there. Slaters wrestling experience was far more superior than Malone’s, but Malone managed to set up some strong offence matching it with Slater at some stages in the match. In the end Slater’s experience easily won over as he defeated Bones.

In the third match of the night we saw Bruce ‘Havok’ Mills return to form against the Golden Aztec. During the match the crowd were shouting references to Havok being a Masked Commando, which he didn’t take to too kindly. Havok dominated The Golden Aztec throughout most of the match as the size and experience of Havok was too overwhelming. Aztec made a brief comeback towards the end, but Havok cut off his offence and delivered a huge Powerbomb for the three count.

After intermission Jag, Havok and Benny English made their way to ringside. Havok took the microphone and went on to announce that there had been speculation that he and Jag wrestled as The Masked Commandos while they were banned from wrestling in South Australia. Havok wanted to squash those rumours tonight and proceeded to bring out the Masked Commandos one at a time to convince the crowd that he and Jag weren’t them. The evidence was not supported by the crowd, as the Masked Commandos that Havok introduced looked suspiciously like Dick & Balls. Havok was satisfied that it should put an end to the rumours. Jag then went on to berate the crowd and say that no one cared about Slex at the last event and that no one will care about Slex tonight. He went on to say that he will retain the title with ease and in the process he would break Slex in two. This brought out Slex to the ringside area who confronted Jag with complete crowd support. Slex went on to humiliate Jag and Havok about their suspect partnership which in return angered the two. Jag attempted to attack Slex, but it backfired and he received the Slexecution in the process. Jag and Havok left the ringside area humiliated to the amusement of the crowd.

J-Rock has been struggling to pick up a victory since his debut in EPW and the frustration was clear in his match-up against Greg Graham. Graham who has been in great form lately clearly out wrestled J-Rock who was furious at another loss. Towards the end of the match, Damian Slater made his way to ringside to watch the rest of the match trying to distract Graham any chance he got in attempt to throw him off his game. After the victory Slater confronted Graham in the ring and went on to attack him. Graham managed to counter, which sent Slater crashing to the floor outside. Slater issued a challenge to Graham at the next event. Saying he didn’t want any fluke wins or excuses, he issued that the match be a two out of three falls and that he will truly show him what it takes to be a professional wrestler.

Mark Aiston was again absent from tonight’s show, but his personal assistant was there to manage his Dick & Balls. Robby Heart made his entrance without his tag partner for the match, Jayson Cooper, who was attacked earlier in the night by the dastardly duo. Aiston’s personal assistant announced that seeing as Jayson Cooper in not present at ringside for the scheduled tag match, then it must take place in a handicap rule of two against one. Robby had a tough time not only battling Dick & Balls, but also being distracted with interference by Mark Aiston’s assistant. Cooper managed to make his way to ringside with his head bandaged up and took out Dick & Balls with a stop sign for revenge, which gave Robby Heart a chance to claim the victory.

The main event was an NWA Australian National Championship Match between the champion, ‘Jag’ Hartley Jackson and his challenger from Victoria, Slex. The match started off evenly paced, but it soon turned into a brawl that spilt to the outside. Jag and Slex brawled around the hall, until eventually Jag rammed Slex’s head into the ring post, which busted him open. Jag took the advantage and dominated Slex. As Jag set up Slex for a running knee into the corner, Slex moved out the way causing Jag to crash to the outside. Jag tried to make his way back in, but Slex knocked him off the apron into the guard rail in turn busting Jag open. The match turned into a bloody brawl with both men bleeding from the head. Jag cut off Slex’s dropkick into a Powerbomb and called for the Jagged Edge, but as Jag picked up Slex, his legs hit Referee Nick Savage knocking him to the mat. Slex countered the move and slid off Jags’ back delivering the Slexecution, but Nick was unable to count. Slex went to check on Nick, but as he turned around Jag caught him in the Jagged Edge for the victory. Nick, who was still feeling the effect of being knocked out, may have made a mistake as many believed Slex kicked out of the pin before the three-count was made. They are going to look into the footage and review what happened, but seeing as the referee awarded the victory to Jag, a reversal of the decision does seem unlikely. News on this situation will be coming soon…
