13/04/08 Main Event For DECEPTION Announced
The main event for DECEPTION will see Damian Slater (SA) take on Slex (VIC) for the 1 Contendership of the NWA Australian Title. Whoever wins the championship will have the opportunity to face the current champion, Hartley Jackson, in his first title defence.
EPW Adelaide is proud to host NWA affiliated matches on their card, but with regrettabble timing due to the current champion being unable to wrestle in Adelaide. This means the winner of this match will have to face Hartley Jackson outside of South Australia in either Victoria, or Perth. This is unfortunate, because at NEW BEGINNINGS we saw an amazing title match between the champion at the time, Mikey Nicholls, against Damian Slater. So this is a huge blow to EPW Adelaide fans as they will not be able to see matches like this in the future.
Also with EPW-A currently having no champion, the NWA Australian Championship would have been more than welcomed, boosting the profile of matches on the event. Co-Commissioner Benny English stated that it’s a travesty that the title can not be defended in Adelaide, but it’s the fault of the old EPW-A Management, current NWA Pro Management and the fans themselves. English will be making some announcements at DECEPTION regarding this issue.
